Which Fabric, y'all?

Image
HELP! {sang in tune to the beatles} Your help is greatly needed.  You see, we have this couch with some gooooood bones.  It has a lovely striped, plaid pattern goin' on.  But lately it's been begging me for a makeover.  The problem is I have  too many ideas.  Keep changin' my mind and bein' all indecisive and such.  So this is where you come in. If you so please, help me pick a fab fabric to dress up our old couch. Here's what I've conjured up so far. We could go with a classic, solid look with one of my favs, Coral. She would be named after the mom on Finding Nemo, and I'm so down with that.  See Coral in action: caitlin wilson designs Or we could venture into pattern with stripes: It'd be so Anna Spiro of us. We could go all zig zaggy with the stripes a la Chevron. caitlin wilson textiles Some people think Chevron is in the past. What say you? I'm still embracing it and refuse to let it go.  Finally,

Tuesday Trend: Red Toile

Image
Lately I've been drooling over red toile wallpaper.  But just not any old toile.  Toile with a fun, funky, modern twist. As seen in a kitchen on Design Sponge: I like, I like. And in a nook designed by Leah of Revival Home & Garden: I love, I LOVE.  See the hint of green I mentioned in an earlier post? Red + green = current obsession. But, you see, this wallpaper is more than meets the eye.   See here:  Brooklyn Toile. {PS dying over those red/white tiled floors} Dumbo Toile. Funky fresh. Chinatown Toile. All can be purchased through Flavor Paper for $150/roll which my friends ain't too, too bad. So what do y'all say?  Are these designs you could get behind? Personally, I'm down. And my pick would have to be Brooklyn.  Behind the barstools in our kitchen. With emerald green trim on the windows. Yes...that'll do pig, that'll do.

In my bag...Monaco edition.

It's amore.

I'm not gonna lie. This post will be sappy. It will be Oprah-esque. Hell, Ellen-esque-- who in my opintion is better anyways.  No, I'm not going to give away a car or surprise a family with an Extreme Makeover {#iwish}.  But what I am going to do my friends is reminiiiiiisce. Let's rewind back to 1999-ish when I was in a far too Episcopalian school who forced me to wear a sailor outfit and taught me about the book of Job instead of the names of the planets. Speaking of that, I still cannot name them all. Again, I have no shame. ANYWAYS, my teacher sent around a postcard of the Coliseum while learning about Ancient Rome.  I was fascinated by it.   Fascinated .  In fact my major in college was Ancient History with a minor in Latin. At that moment in 1999, I distinctly remember saying to myself "I WILL go there someday. I WILL have my picture taken inside of the Coliseum."  Well luck would have it, four years later in high school I had the opportunity to go on a

Turquoise & Gold: Guest Blogger!!

Image
Ladies & gents, W. 26th is so happy to welcome our first guest blogger!! I would like to introduce y'all to my friend, sorority sistah, and new-mom-to-be, Lauren of Turquoise & Gold .  You guys seriously need to stalk her blog. Not only is she hilarious, but she also has a great eye for all things fashion & design  {check out her nursery board }.  Plus, we both stalk celebrities on twitter so I know we're meant to be friends. She put together a design for Miss Bluebonnet that I absolutely die over.  She even incorporated Finn (our new pup) into the room! Seriously, girl has some mayjah t-a-l-e-n-t. So without further adieu, here she is! ______________________________________________________________________ When I originally went to design a space for Ryann & Brett’s house, Miss Bluebonnet, I immediately thought I would put something together based on their home’s namesake flower. Clearly, the room took a different direction, but you can still see some bl

Emerald City

Image
Lately my eyes have been reallllly drawn to a couple of thangs.  Such as: malachite, ginger jars (well anything blue & white really), coral of all shades, and emerald walls.  Let's just focus on one for now, shall we? I present to you the color I need to paint our dining room. Oui? I think I've found the perfect candidate too. Her name is Ming Jade and apparently she looks fun during the day, but a little mysterious at night.  Ok, Benjamin Moore, whateva you say. Yes, yes this needs to happen. xoxo

Ashley's Nursery Board

Image
A couple months ago I met my lovely friend Ashley for lunch for a much needed catch up sesh. About five minutes after sitting down, she told me that her and her hubby, Ricky, just found out they were expecting their first little bambino! I can't even explain the joy, excitement, happiness I felt for them. I've known them for a long time and know they'll be the most amazing, hilarious, down to earth parents! Ashley showed me the cutest bedding she fell in love with so I thought I'd put together a nursery board for her.  Oh and they find out if their lil one is a boy or girl today, but this board is based off a boy (which I predict they will be having!!). Love you Ash & can't wait to hear the news later!!
