CASH'S BATHROOM

Image
Of course every time I sit down to write this post, Cash wakes up from his cat nap, but this time I have him trapped in the ERGO carrier and it puts him out like a light.  (Insert baby product promo) If you've been following this blog from the beginning when I was writing about building West 26th (RIP)...   Which by the way, the guy who bought the lot from us is just letting deteriorate with weeds and grass. The horror... But anyways, if you've been following along you've heard me mention this wallpaper numerous times. In fact you've heard me mention the use of wallpaper a MILLION times and it's never happened.  Now that we actually have a house I am so tempted to put this in Cash's bathroom.  I've been dreaming about it for 2 years now and think it's time to bite the bullet.  Our builder suggested putting bead-boards up half the wall to minimize how many rolls we would need (save some pennies) which I think sounds like an excellent idea. CASH'S FAVORITE THINGS

I know every baby is different, but here are a few things that Cash (and me let's be honest) can't live without & a few things just for fun. If you do one thing and one thing only by reading this blog post, GET THE MIRACLE BLANKET . Seriously.  I pray it works for you like it did for us, but the first night we used that thing he slept for 8 hours straight.  Another device that I swear by (thanks to the recommendations of many fam and friends) is the Fisher Price Rock N Play Sleeper . This mainly is a life saver because Cash has GERD (bad acid reflux) and it keeps him elevated for sleep.  But I do know other people who love it just as much for a bassinet by their bed for the first few months. Miracle Blanket + Rock N Play Sleeper = sanity and sleep for Ryann & B Just do it. Now on to playing... I LOVE LOVE all the toys from Sassy Baby and Lamaze.  He has these little nuggets: Sassy Ring Sassy Birds Jacque!! Newborn Lounger

8 WEEKS OF CASH

Image
I can't believe my little peanut is 8 weeks old today.  I feel like we've already been through so much together in such a short time.  Each week I can't wait for him to reach new milestones- smiling, grabbing toys, cooing. It seriously gets better and better. I'm just now finding "me time''- in a large part thanks to Brett, his mom, my mom, and all the visitors who have come to babysit or watch Cash man for us.  That's a lot of the reason I haven't blogged-- I'm just so focused on him that I haven't really made time for other things.  I'm getting better at it though :)  Also Cash has had a lot of issues. It feels like we are in and out of doctor appointments every week.  The most recent one is that he aspirates.  Which basically means when he feeds, some fluid goes down the wrong tube and towards his lungs.  We've been working with a speech therapist to improve his swallowing and prevent him from aspirating, but it'

KITCHEN

So since the house is scheduled to be complete in July, we have to decide on a million things FAST.  Like in two weeks fast.  I began scrambling through my old files for W. 26th, Pinterest, Houzz etc and started planning like a mad woman.  The problem is that I am so indecisive- like the most indecisive person ever.  But I kind of think being forced to make decisions fast helps me in a way because you have no other choice- you can't take your time and there's no turning back.  So last night while Grandma babysat, B & I sat down to map out the kitchen design (after I had my bubble bath and wine obviously).  And in about an hour we had our entire kitchen picked out.  Here are a few pics for the inspiration: We're going with white cabinets for the main area with a subway tile back splash-- I think we'll do a contrasting grout like the first pic to where it's not just all white and will break up the color a little bit.  For the counter tops, our to

I'M ALIVE Y'ALL

And Grandma Cindy is in town so I actually have time to sit down at my computer and remember what it's like to TYPE!  I feel like that guy that shunned the internet for a year. Ok not really because I'd die without FB mobile but you get the point. I know I have a MILLION things to discuss on here...like the first 2 months of life with Cash so far, his birth story (IT HURT LIKE HELL) ((sorry to be honest)), and what's been going on in life in general...but today is for house talk.  All house talk. We've been scouring HAR for months trying to find the perfect house.  When we finally made the trek to Houston to house hunt, honestly we were shocked by how insane the market is there right now.  Seriously made me want to hurl.  I'm sure most of you know how it is, but things are going over asking price (no thanks), bidding wars are happening, and houses you fall in love with sell in a matter of hours. #UGH.  Before we came in town we picked out our top neighborhoods--
